Another day, another peso

Move over Joe Cool. John is in town!!
Sebastian says yello!!
Cate isn't impressed...papa is in her face with the camera again...she didn't even do her hair this morning....ugh!!
Out for a stroll!

Well we had a pretty normal day today. We took the three amigos out for two walks though the neighborhood and everyone really seemed to enjoy it! Cate will hum as we go across the rough streets. We think she likes the vibrations from the broken concrete sidewalks and stretches of cobblestone.

Sebastian (or as he prefers to be called “Sebast”) continues to open up and has been doing great. We were told when we first picked up the kids that Sebastian tends to be sensitive to changes in his environment and schedule (just like papa) and really likes routines. But to me he seems like a normal, healthy boundary-testing three year old!!

John has a new trick. Whenever he’s upset or not getting his way he plays dead. Previously he’d throw a five-star tantrum (arching his back, whipping his head back and wailing complete with tears). We'd have to pick him up and either carry him to our room or find a convenient corner for him to sit and chill out. Well, he outfoxed us today. Instead of the tantrums he just folded over and laid still. We could pick him up but he was a total wet noodle. After a few minutes he’d get up (like he reset himself) and went about as if nothing happened. Of course we talked to him and let him know why his behavior is unacceptable… But it somehow strikes me funny trying to teach/lecture to a kid who is acting completely comatose.

Cate seemed to be feeling much better today and Holly and I were thinking her recent bout of messy diapers may be done. Unfortunately about 30 minutes after we put her down for the night I heard a “babbling brook” noise from her general area followed shortly by stench worse than anything her uncles could’ve generated. Fortunately Holly and I are quite the hazmat team these days and got her stripped, bathed, fitted with a new diaper and fresh jammies in about 15 minutes (her clothes are still soaking…).

Well folks, this may be my last post. I have to head back home on Tuesday next week for work. Fortunately both grandmas have offered to come down and help Holly with the kids! In fact, Holly and her mom Betty got back from the airport a few minutes ago. Holly left at about 10pm with a driver associated with LSS to pick her up! I know leaving Holly and the kids will be the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. It is easier knowing Betty is here to help, plus we have friends coming down tomorrow (Sunday). The Kopka’s are coming back to adopt a beautiful baby girl!! They’ll be staying at the same hotel we’re at and will have their previously adopted boys (Jake and Will) with them. Should be fun for all boys!

Time for bed. See you all later! Rhett

I laughed so hard at the new "tantrum" of playing dead! What a little stinker! Rhett...it is too bad that you have to leave. I am sure you will miss them a lot, but hopefully they will be home soon!

Sounds like things are going GREAT!!! Really hope your papers come through quickly, Rhett - you will be in my thoughts as you have to leave on Tuesday - that will be hard. Can't wait to see you all at home and meet the "gang".

I think I am quite impressed with SEbast's idea of tantrum! you asked him not to scream, kick and holler so really? It's a good solution! Just curl up in a ball and be quiet (a bit hard to deal with in a store but less drama!) :)

You have the most beautiful family (The white parents arent bad either :) You are all working so well together! And I couldnt be happier for you all. I could cry thinking how well you all go together! Lots of love!Jodi
