Happy Adoption Day!

One year ago today will be a day we will never forget. This morning while having breakfast and drinking my morning coffee, I thought about how last year I was trying to get down my tostadas francesas( French toast) and cafe (coffee). I had such a nervous stomach, the last thing I felt like doing was eating. Now here we are, one year later, and it seems like Sebastian, John and Cate have been in our family their entire lives.

As I relive that day, I still do not quite know how we made it through the bathroom issues, although I could say that about the past year. As of the beginning of this May, we finally have all of the kids healthy! That has been the best thing, needless to say we have saved a lot of money on diapers!

This past year, Sebastian attended preschool with his cousin Mckenna and loved it. He was so excited every morning when he woke up and found out it was a school day. He is a very bright kid and I cannot take any credit for that because as much as I wanted to work with him on stuff, I was always so busy with running to doctor appointments, feeding everyone, changing diapers and just adjusting myself to keeping up a house of five instead of two! He is a very sensitive and caring boy. He definitely looks out for his brother and sister. It is truly a blessing that those three could stay together, there is nothing thicker than blood when it involves siblings.  Sebastian just started T-ball and will be starting soccer next week.  He absolutely loves life, he has such enthusiasm for everything.  We go to t-ball and when all the kids are asked to sit, he is the only one standing with his legs going nuts, almost as if he is trying to give his coaches a hint that he is there to play ball and not sit and listen to them talk!  I guess it is kind of like at home, not real interested in listening to mom, he would rather play!

What can I say about John, he is still our little love bug, but he can also throw down a pretty good temper!  He recently hit a milestone by being potty trained.  I thought it literally would never happen.  He fought the good fight but in the end, he gave in.  John completed his first year of speech and has improved a lot.  He tries so hard and so when I don't always understand him, I feel so bad.  He too will start t-ball and soccer in the next few weeks!  That should be interesting, I contemplate putting him in full football gear and making all the parents sign waivers that they will not sue me if he takes out one of their children.  He is so rough, but yet, he is most prone to injury, specifically head wounds!

Cate, Cate, Cate...as I was reading my post from a year ago, I said if I was a betting girl, I would bet she is going to be my trouble maker...WOW, I said that after only a few hours and she didn't even talk at that point!  I should have put a lot of money down on that one because I would be rich.  She definitely knows how to push all of our buttons.  She even has the boys right where she wants them...scared to death of her!  I still think back on that day one year ago and am amazed that she is "that" little girl.  She was so tiny, didn't talk, walk, really didn't even crawl and now, she is caught up to where she should be and I even think she is beyond her years.  I think it helps that she has two older brothers she is determined to keep up with.  She definitely provides that spark our family loves.

This past year has exceeded all of my expectations that I went into this whole adoption process with.  I never in a million years would have believed that any of us would have adjusted the way we did.  I truly cannot imagine our family without these three beautiful children.  We have our days, just like everyone else, but they bring so much love to our family and I am so proud to call them my children!

Brothers!
 All tired out!
Grandma was babysitting her three super heroes!

Those two are up to no good!

Such little dolls (although don't tell that to the boys, call the little tough guys)! Yes, you & Rhett have done a super good job in raising these kids in the year you have been blessed with them!
Can't wait to see them next month!
