Happy Birthday John!

Our sweet little John is 3 years old today!  Sweet and little are the 2 words that best describe him.  He may be little in size but he tries to be big like his brother.  He is such a sweet little boy, he is always, well ALMOST always, kind to his brother and sister, especially Cate.

He has been through a lot this year but you would never guess it.  He adapts so well to everything!  I remember that moment I saw him for the first time, my heart just ached.  He was so scared and looked so sad.  He had no idea what to do.  He did not want to leave Andres (our angel at Los Pisingos) and when Andres put him down to go, John just went and sat in the corner by himself to play with toys.  I went over to try to just sit by him to see if he would warm up and he continued to just stay to himself.  Soon, he came by me and as they say, the rest is history!  Now, he is our little love bug!

This is one of the first pictures we took of him, so sad to see him like this now...definitely not the norm!

Although, I am not a big fan of getting woken up in the middle of the night, John wakes up most nights at about 3:00am crying for mommy.  I go in there, hold him for a few seconds, lay him back down and he forms his little fish lips for a kiss and that is all he needs.  Now, I really don't mind being woken up by that each night!

One thing I find so precious is John has formed a really close bond with his cousin, Maddie.  Whenever we get together with her family, he immediately goes by her.  I have to tell her she doesn't have to carry him all the time as I know he gets very heavy, but she seems to like it and I know John loves it.  It is so fun to see him with her.

We have been really celebrating his birthday today, I think we have sung Happy Birthday close to 10 times so far.  With his birthday so close to Christmas, I don't want to celebrate it at the same time as we celebrate Christmas so I may be going a little overboard letting him know that TODAY is his birthday!  We will wrap up the festivities tonight with dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings as that seems to be his favorite place to eat and then brownies and ice cream back at home.

Hopefully, he will remember his first birthday with us fondly and not feel like he got the short end of the stick with a birthday so close to Christmas!

Happy Birthday our precious John!!

Love, Mommy, Daddy, Sebastian and Catie
