This kind of feels like a post when we were getting home from Colombia! So excited to be home! John got his bandage off today and everything looked good so they discharged him. He was not sure he wanted to go home, he was very weepy when I was trying to get him prepped to go home. John spent 2 1/2 days with pretty much just mommy and so he was not real interested in sharing me with Sebastian and Cate. But, once we got home, it didn't take long and he was off to the races. I cannot believe this kid, he has a horseshoe shaped scar on his head that in total measures about 14 inches and he is running around like he did on Sunday before his surgery. With that said, he did take a 2 1/2 hour nap this afternoon and he is pretty worn out tonight. So, somehow, I am going to try and get all of the kids to lay low for awhile so that he can continue to heal.
We are so thankful that everything went so well and that he is an amazing kid. It is so nice to be home and have all 3 of my kiddos under one roof again sleeping in our own beds and getting back to normal.
Well, time for me to go do some medicating for bedtime, we will see if he can make it all night since nobody will need to go in to wake him up to give him medicine or take his vitals!
Thanks again for all your prayers and well wishes...we felt every last one of them!

John and mommy before surgery...the versed is relaxing him but he is just a little too stubborn to let it take him down.
Day after surgery, getting ready to get out of ICU and into the Peds area.
Time to eat, looks like a pretty healthy serving size, yep, he ate about 3 bites!
John had some visitors on Tuesday night having a picnic dinner on his hospital room floor!
John not wanting to give up mommy's lap when Sebastian and Cate came to visit.
They really missed eachother. At first Sebastian and Cate didn't quite know what to think about the head dress, but it didn't take long and they realized it was really John underneath it!
Last picture this morning with the bandage on...
...and he is free of the bandage! YEAH!!!!
Looking pretty good for only being home a few hours!

Thinking of you and the crew!

What a little trooper! Can just see John running around like he owns the place just days after a major surgery like that! I love it! Wishing him a continued speedy recovery. Hope the rest of you are well!

Love to all you guys! He looks great! Love the photo of John and Sebas! Love Jodi
Hi Vettels - Ava and I were just catching up on how John is doing and enjoying all the pictues. The kids are so beautiful and cute and fun ... the night Sebas and Cate came to our volleyball practice (when John was in the hospital), we could hardly concentrate -they were great entertainment! We hope they can come to a game and cheer for Maddie and the other girls.
Your newly expanded family brings so much joy and a lot of smiles ... thank you for sharing your pictures and stories.
We are so relieved that John is healing so well. Hope to see you all soon!
Mary and Ava Cheasicks (and John, Maddie and Julia)
ps remember the older girls would LOVE to babysit when you need an adult night out
