Presentation Day!!!!

First of all, sorry this took so long, it was quite the day...you will see!!

Where do I begin? I woke up at 4am and have barely even blinked today. Rhett and I had breakfast, couldn't eat too much the nerves were going crazy. Our rep. picked us up at 9:40 for our 10:00 appt. Let's just say, Rhett and I were glad the kids were not in the car with us on that taxi ride. We had Herman pick us up from the orphanage who is the same driver we had from the airport. He drives much slower and speaks English...he is awesome!! :) Anyways, it was really weird, I was so nervous while at the hotel and then once we got to Los Posingos, I was calm. It brings tears to my eyes to think of the orphanage that our children lived at...they are absolutely wonderful. You can tell their #1 priority is the children and then us as parents. I owe soooo much to them! They have prepared our children for this event and it shows, even in the first 30 minutes of our meeting them. They prepared us that they may not want to interact with us right away which was fine and normal.

After talking with Carlos, Andres and the nurse, it was time to meet the children. They were in the "gym". As Rhett calls it "a greenhouse". It was sooo hot in their and as you will see in pictures, they have the children dressed very warm. John had a t-shirt, a fleece jacket and bib overalls on. Poor little guy was hot but didn't say a word. We played for awhile for them to warm up to us and then it was lunch time for them so we were able to feed them right at the orphanage. That was very nice that we could satisfy one of their needs while they were in their comfort zone. Andres continued to tell us to take as much time as we needed, which was wonderful, I did not feel rushed at all.

I should mention, Juan has gone by Sebastian in the orphanage and that is what we will be calling him as that is what he responds to with us as well. Sebastian is his middle name.

It was then time for the car ride to the hotel. Sebastian jumped in the car like a champ, Catherine was good, but John cried for a little while but we have found out all of the children are easily comforted just by holding them and John likes his head rubbed.

We got back to the hotel and they were doing well, except that both boys are having major stomach issues. We think it is a virus but also Carlos said they were very nervous, so we think the combination of everything is causing them problems. So, at the orphanage we were told John was the one with stomach issues (sorry for the detail, but very loose stools!! :)) but all of the kids were taking a nap and Sebastian got up and his lunch came out of both ends. Poor baby, he was crying for mama. I blame that on us as well, they all 3 are wonderful eaters and when we got back to the hotel it was lunch time here. We all sat down and Sebastian ate again like a champ, I mentioned to the staff that he already ate lunch but he was chowing down his salad and empanadas. This was after a big bowl of soup at the orphanage.

Anyways, I will spare you all any more details, we are all doing very well now, all are sleeping...well John is and the last time I was in the room, I saw big brown eyes from Sebastian and Catherine, but they are in their beds not making a peep. You gotta love the sleep patterns they learn at the orphanage, there is nobody there to comfort them so we just lay them down and they may lay (or sit in Catherine's case) in bed for a little while but eventually they fall asleep.

They are such wonderful children. I know this is probably the "honeymoon" phase (other than the sickness) but we are truly blessed with their demeanor. We do expect them to be true boys, and show signs of what they have been through up to this point in their lives but right now, we are very pleased. Oh and I should mention, if I was a betting girl, I would say Catherine could be our trouble maker, but I am not a gambler!!

Pictures coming hopefully in less than 5 minutes, having a hard time uploading.

Your journal brings tears to my eyes! What an incredible day for all of you! You have all been blessed. You sound so content and peaceful. Doesn't matter that this is the honeymoon phase, you have finally come together as a family, and there is no better feeling. We cannot wait to share our adoption experience with you, and look forward to meeting those sweeties soon! Have a wonderful night!

Congratulations!!! You are finally together!!! Ugh, my thoughts were with you all day long and just wondering how the ride was to the orphanage, what happened the first time you saw them, what you were doing together this afternoon, etc etc....couldn't stop wondering all day long! Sounds like things went fabulous (with the exception of the little "sickness"! :0)--welcome to parenthood!) The pictures are so wonderful to see--love to hear that Catherine may be the trouble maker and she is a Daddy's girl already! :0) They could not be sweeter!
Looking forward to your updates!

I am sitting here bawling like a baby! It is just such an incredible experience. As you talked about Los Pisingos, it brought so many emotions back. They are so amazing! I am thrilled you found comfort in their care as we did. Thank you for sharing your experience today - it is so beautiful to read! So so so thrilled for you! Praying hard for all of you and especially for good health!

Congratulations. Reading your post, it's like I'm in a time warp, 7 months ago doing the exact same thing myself. It brings back so many vivid memories, Carlos, Andres, the incredible staff at Posingos. I couldn't agree more on how well they treat and prepare the children for adoption.

If one of your children weren't sick, then I'd be surprised. If it continues (especially the loose stool) for more than a couple days, have them checked for parasites. Very common down there and our little one and another boy both had them coming out. It happens.

My guess is you will spend every moment following them around the hotel to make sure they are ok. Remember this moment because in 6-8 weeks you will be acting totally different as your comfort level changes. Everyone talks about how much the children change, but the parents do as well.

There is a small little park about a 5 minute walk from hotel Paris if you haven't found it yet (by river Molinde) and even a nicer one if you walk another 10 minutes or so following the river across the main road. Lots of playground equipment and swings.

Don't try do too much and get overwhelmed. The children will dictate your pace, sit back and enjoy it, there will be much more time to do stuff in a couple weeks.

Congratulations again, I look forward to following your process.
